MUMBAI: Two Class 10 students at an English-medium school in Antop Hill were injured on Monday morning after being attacked by two fellow students with a knife, following a dispute over seating arrangements for their internal exams.

According to police, the accused were from the Hindi-medium section. The incident occurred during the joint internal examinations for Class 10, where students from both mediums were seated together. One of the attackers reportedly had a knife in his bag, which was used to settle the disagreement with the English-medium students.

Two 15-Year-Old Minors Detained

The Antop Hill police have detained two 15-year-old minors in connection with the attack. The incident occurred around 7 AM when students were gathering for the internal exams. After a quarrel broke out over the seating arrangement, one of the Hindi-medium students pulled out a knife and attacked an English-medium student. A classmate who tried to intervene was also injured in the altercation.

“One of the students helped the accused student in the fight. We have registered a case for attempt to murder against the two students and detained them. The Hindi medium students had appeared for the examination as external students and had never attended the school. They were asked to directly attend the internal examinations,” said the police officer, adding that they have seized the knife used in the attack.
