After concerns arose over its shift to a pen-and-paper format, the re-test for the UGC-NET will revert to the Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. Scheduled to take place from August 21 to September 4, all 83 papers will be administered in CBT mode.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the revised dates on Friday. Details regarding the location of exam centers will be available on the NTA website ten days before the test.

The exam, originally scheduled for June 18, was canceled due to concerns about potential irregularities. The UGC-NET is essential for appointments as assistant professors and junior research fellows in universities and colleges. It also plays a role in admissions to PhD programs at higher education institutions. The NTA has posted the subject-wise exam schedule on its website. Out of the 11.2 lakh students who registered, approximately 9 lakhs attended the exam in June.
