On Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya met with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda. This meeting comes amidst rumors of a rift between Maurya and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath following the party’s disappointing performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Maurya did not comment to the media after leaving the BJP headquarters in New Delhi.
Sources within the BJP indicated that JP Nadda is also expected to meet with Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary. Although the official agenda of these meetings was not disclosed, it is believed that Maurya’s meeting with Nadda followed his remarks emphasizing that “the organization is always bigger than the government” at the state party’s extended executive meeting on Sunday.
Heavy Rain Alert for Kerala and Mumbai
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for several districts in Kerala due to heavy rainfall. In response, authorities have ordered the closure of educational institutions on Wednesday, July 17.
The districts affected include Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Palakkad, Thrissur, Idukki, Alappuzha, and Kottayam. The heavy rains have resulted in waterlogged streets, downed power lines, and swollen rivers, prompting the district administrations to declare a holiday for schools and colleges in these areas.
