As of Thursday, the flood death toll in Tripura has risen to 19, with seven new casualties reported in the past 24 hours. The relentless rainfall has displaced over 65,000 people, and two individuals are still missing, according to the state government’s Relief, Rehabilitation, and Disaster Management Department.
Rivers in six districts—Dhalai, Khowai, South Tripura, West Tripura, North Tripura, and Unakoti—are flowing above the danger mark. Additionally, landslides have affected 2,032 locations, with 1,789 of these areas cleared and restoration work ongoing in the others.
The state experienced some of its highest rainfall in the past 24 hours on August 22, 2024, with significant totals recorded: Bogafa in South Tripura received 493.6 mm, Sonamura in Sepahijala saw 293.4 mm, Agartala in West Tripura recorded 233 mm, and Udaipur in Gomati received 155 mm. Consequently, the entire state is severely impacted by flooding, with Gomati, South Tripura, Unakoti, and West Tripura districts particularly affected.
