Valenciaport has successfully handled increased activity from the loading and unloading operations of 10 vessels that had been stranded at the Suez Canal.
The 10 vessels were handled at the Spanish port between 6 – 16 April bringing a total of 32,313 additional containers during that period. Valenciaport said it has since then, recovered the usual pace of activity after assuming all the ships delayed in their operations due to the Suez Canal incident
During the first three months of the year, Valenciaport handled a total of 1.38m teu, an increase of 5.38% compared to the same period in 2020, when the pandemic created by COVID-19 had not yet begun.
Cargo containers (export) have grown by 17.2% during the first 3 months of 2020; imports by 8.52%, while transshipment grew by 4.89%.
The vehicles and transport aprts sector continue to be the industry that is the largest shipper through Valenciaport with 3.53% more than in 2020.
China is Valenciaport’s main partner with very notable growth, with 1.83m tonnes of goods handled (+32.94%) and 165,641 containers (+34.91%).
