Jaipur: Nearly six months after the arrest of notorious Rajasthan gangster Amarjeet Singh Vishnoi in Sicily, Italy, his wife, Sudha Kanwar (26), was detained in the same region on Wednesday.

Dinesh MN, Additional Director General of Rajasthan’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), confirmed on Thursday that Sudha, a resident of Merta City in Nagaur district, was wanted by the Rajasthan Police in connection with the murder of gangster Rajendra, also known as Raju Theth, who was killed in Sikar in December 2022.

Sudha is also accused of aiding her husband’s criminal activities, which are linked to another gangster, Rohit Godara. Amarjeet, a close associate of Godara, fled to Italy in 2022, prior to Raju Theth’s murder. Sudha joined him in October 2023, and the two were living together in Sicily. The AGTF had issued a Red Corner Notice for both Amarjeet and Sudha, which led to her arrest.

After Sudha was implicated in the murder case, she was initially placed in judicial custody but was granted bail on October 7, 2023. Following her release, Sudha fled India in October, traveling to Italy via Sharjah on her legitimate passport.

“Through intelligence gathered from social media, associates, and ground sources, we confirmed Sudha’s whereabouts in Sicily and informed the Italian police, which led to her arrest. Extradition proceedings have now been initiated to bring her back to India,” said Dinesh MN.
