Kodagu – Amid a growing controversy surrounding notices issued to farmers by the Waqf Board, a 45-year-old woman has lodged a complaint claiming that two men, who identified themselves as representatives of the Board, threatened her and demanded that she vacate her ancestral property in Kushalnagar.

The incident occurred on October 25 at the woman’s home in Mullusoge Layout, where Puchimada Renuka Uthappa resides. According to police, the men alleged that her ancestors had encroached on Waqf land and insisted that she vacate the property, claiming it belonged to the Board.

Renuka, in her complaint, refuted their claims, explaining that her family legally owned the property, which her father had purchased in 1984 from Manyapanda Bopanna. The property, which spans 36 cents in Survey No. 79/2, has been in her family for decades. When Renuka asked the men for official documentation or a court order to validate their assertions, they reportedly responded with threats.

The Kushalnagar Police have registered a case against the two men under relevant sections for trespass and criminal intimidation. Inspector B. Prakash confirmed that investigations are underway.
