BENGALURU: A 21-year-old man allegedly strangled his mother to death during a heated argument over his drinking habits and later died by suicide in the old Chandapura area on Bengaluru’s outskirts, police reported on Sunday.
The incident occurred on Saturday night following a quarrel at their rented home. The deceased were identified as Lakshmi Devi (41) and her son, Ramesh (21). According to the police, Ramesh, who struggled with alcoholism, attacked his mother after she objected to his drinking.
A case has been registered based on a complaint filed by the victim’s husband, Manjanna. “Ramesh worked as a cleaner but was irregular in his duties. The family originally hailed from Vijayanagara district,” the police said.
Further legal proceedings are underway, and the investigation continues.
